So far, four new runewords for Diablo 2: Resurrected have been revealed: Unbending Will, Wisdom, Mist, and Flickering Flame.
Just recently, we shared news about Unbending Will, the first new runeword for Diablo 2 in in 18 years. Now, three more runewords have been revealed, giving us a glimpse of the upcoming v2.4 update for Diablo 2: Resurrected.
Three further Diablo 2 Resurrected runewords have emerged, each with its own unique set of meanings and applications: "Flickering Flame" (Nef + Pul + Vex), "Wisdom" (Pul + Ith + Eld), and "Mist" (Cham + Shael + Gul +Thul + Ith). The first two runewords are passable and can be used in certain contexts.
Flame (Nef + Pul + Vex) that flickers.
As a runeword based on a helmet, Flickering Flame is quite pricey, necessitating the expenditure of a Pul and a Vex, both of which are important components of the potent Heart of the Oak runeword, which is prized by Hammerdins. For casters, especially fire sorcerers and druids, this is a very expensive notion. The combination of +3 fire skills and -percent fire resistances from enemies is extremely strong, making this ability comparable to a fire version of Nightwing's Veil. The resist fire aura will help against hydras in Trav and Mephisto runs, and it will also make available some other in-slot equipment that may have been held for fire resistance.
Pul (Arabic) + Ith (Hebrew) + Eld (English) = Wisdom.
Next, the reasonably priced Wisdom comes into view. Costing Pul, Ith, and Eld, this runeword is a 3os helmet rune. For the price, you get some interesting statistics for melee builds, especially bowazons. Despite having no skills, this character's percent piercing attack, bonus to attack rating, mana leech, and invulnerability to freezing are remarkable.
The haze (Cham + Shael + Gul + Thul + Ith)
Finally, there's Mist, a formidable but pricey bow runeword. A powerful source of raw damage, mist is equipped in 5os bows (hydra bows, grand matron bows, matriarchal bows). As soon as it's equipped, the concentration aura draws attention, as do the large 300 percent + increased damage, +3 skills, freezes target, and huge +40 all resistances it provides. Anyone who typically utilizes Razortail for bowazons will find that the piercing attack goes a long way and provides them with another free in-slot item.
We don't know when patch 2.4 will be released or if Blizzard will confirm the runewords, but it will bring a fresh ladder reset to account for the changes to runewords, skill balances, and monster balancing.
